The standard thickness required for concrete sidewalks is 4″ with 3/8” rebar inserted throughout, which increases longevity and keeps the sidewalk from becoming uneven over the years. Sidewalks also need to have proper slopes or grade, the most common slope for sidewalks is 1 degree or 2%. This helps keep grade from being too drastic for wheelchairs while still allowing the proper amount of drainage.
